If you’ve come to this web site, perhaps you’ve heard of Reiki or experienced a session. You’ve been curious for a while, thinking you’d like to learn more or even take a class but classes near you didn’t mesh with your schedule. Perhaps you’re seeking “something” to help reduce your stress, to make sense of the world as it now is and to help you navigate your way through Life. Perhaps you can identify with the “Northwoods state of mind” and would like to be able to invoke that sense of peace, connectedness and joy no matter where you are.
The emergence of COVID-19 into our world has brought challenging changes, one of those being the ability to conduct and attend in-person training. Sensing this, the Reiki energy has adapted to our life situation. It has transformed to a new level, expanding, if you will, to embrace successful training in an online/virtual environment. Along with advancements in technology, online training is now a real and viable alternative to in-person instruction.
What does this mean? It means you can now take Reiki training “in person” via virtual classes, safely and from the comfort of your own home!
As a Professional Member of the Reiki Membership Association, Betty attended webinar training in May 2020, during which she received an “upgrade” to her Reiki energy and guidelines on conducting online/virtual classes. She is excited to be able to continue sharing Usui/Tibetan Reiki with others!
Reiki (pronounced "ray kee") energy resides in every one of us. Each of us can learn to use this abundant life force as a relaxation technique, to reduce stress and to promote general well-being. Not only can the Reiki practitioner use this loving energy for his or her own self-improvement but also in helping others while never depleting his or her own energy. Although Reiki is not a substitute for conventional medicine, it never does harm and is used in conjunction with many medical modalities. Reiki practitioners are found in hospitals, cancer clinics, wellness centers, hospice agencies, nursing homes, pain clinics and in private practice.
Reiki is not a religion.
Reiki energy is very powerful, very nurturing, and brings a sense of peace to the stressful issues we all are confronted with in our daily lives.
Reiki Fundamentals
Rediscovered and techniques/usages structured by Sensei Mikao Usui in the early 1900s, Reiki is the use of Universal energy, or life force, to aid in relaxation and healing and to promote general well-being. While this Universal energy is present in us and all around us and we all have the capability to call upon it, Reiki techniques and teachings are traditionally passed from Master to student. What are known as “attunements” are performed by the Master during class, awakening the Reiki capabilities within the student. Think of turning on a tap and allowing the water to flow through the faucet. During the attunements, the student’s Reiki “tap” is turned on and the Reiki energy begins to flow. Once you have received the attunements, Reiki stays with you your entire life. The more you use it, the stronger it will become.
How Does It Work?
Reiki can be performed hands-on or in the recipient’s energy field. The energy flows through the practitioner’s hands to the recipient. Working in conjunction with the recipient's chakras (energy centers of the body), Reiki can also be focused on specific areas to help reduce discomfort. The Reiki practitioner can also perform Reiki on oneself, making it a tool of empowerment for those with chronic pain, cancer patients and the like.
How Does It Feel?
Reiki energy recipients feel the warmth from my hands when placed on the body. I’ve been told my hands feel like small heating pads! The energy recipient typically feels relaxed; it is not unusual for clients to “cat nap” during a session. Those are typical reactions; however, everyone experiences the energy differently. Although Reiki is not a religion, many clients and students find it to be quite a spiritual experience.
Betty received her Reiki I/II instruction in 2002, followed by Master Teacher training in 2003. She began teaching shortly thereafter. In April 2005, she received her Karuna Master training with William Lee Rand. She has held classes in Texas, Minnesota and New Jersey over the years. She attended the Usui/Tibetan Online Reiki Master Upgrade Class in May 2020 conducted by the International Center for Reiki Training.
A two-time cancer survivor, Betty is grateful for having Reiki as a tool for self-empowerment and for coping with the physical, emotional, and spiritual effects of serious health challenges.
Betty loves sharing the way of Reiki with others! She loves hearing her students’ stories of how Reiki benefits them, their “a-ha!” experiences working with the energy, and the joy and peace brings into their everyday lives.
About Online Training
Classes are held via Zoom, in an informal and relaxed setting with laughter, sharing and learning. All classes are conducted in accordance with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). Your Zoom session schedule can be tailored to fit your schedule, whether it be over one weekend or over a period of 2-3 weeks.
Students will be provided an ICRT manual appropriate for their level of training and will receive an ICRT certificate of completion for the level of instruction attained.
All levels of Usui/Tibetan Reiki up to and including Karuna Master are available.
The Usui/Tibetan Online Reiki Master Upgrade Class (which allows Masters to teach online) is also available. This may be included as part of your ART/Master course or as a standalone course to existing Reiki Masters.
Classes may be one-on-one or a small group and are scheduled based on the needs of students. Insert class fees here.
Emphasis on Self-Reiki
Reiki is often mainly thought of as a practitioner giving Reiki to another person; however, self-Reiki is the foundation of a practitioner’s wellbeing and personal growth. With this and social distancing in mind, online training places more emphasis on Self-Reiki and Distance Reiki.
